Who Owns a Domain Name

You'll often want to look up a domain name. There could be many reasons why you would want to see who owns a domain name, for instance, if someone has registered a domain name which infringes on your copyright or trademark. You may also just want to see if a name is registered, and if so, when is it expiring. A domain name look up is referred to as a "whois" query. Here we'll show you how to look up most domain extentions, ie, .co.za, .com, .net, etc. |
Simply visit our Domain Names page and enter a domain name into the search box, then select the domain name extention from the drop down box and click on the "Go" button.
In the next page, there is a result table (second half of the screen). If the domain name is already registered, it will be listed as "Unavailable" in the status column. In the "More Info" column are two links, "WWW" and "WHOIS".
Clicking on the "WWW" link takes you to the website, while clicking the "WHOIS" link takes you to the whois information, ie, who owns this domain.
Note that in some cases, owners remain anonymous and you will only see the registrar information. In many cases though, and in all cases with co.za, you should see more info and contact details.
