If you already have a Joomla! site with another server and you want to move it to your new SoftSmart.co.za hosting account, there is some help available.

Here is an excellent article to do this:, but first take note of the following important warnings:

1) SoftSmart.co.za is not responsible for any loss of data, downtime, etc.

2) NB!!! Make backups of your old  site. Go in via FTP and download your entire site. Zip this file and make a backup on a NON-writable CD or DVD!

3) Download the entire database and back it up on the CD / DVD in step 2 (downloading your  database is explained in the link below).

4) Lock the backup CD / DVD away. If everything goes pear-shaped, you have a backup!

5) You should NOT delete the old site until the new one is working. In your welcome email from us you will have temporary web address (www.softsmart.co.za/~yourdom). Move your site to our servers and test. Once you're 100% happy its working you can cancel your old service.
